About Dan Bronzite
Dan is a produced screenwriter and multi-award-winning director who studied photography and graphic design and worked in computer graphics before pursuing his passion for cinema and a full-time career in film.
He directed his first short FINDERS, KEEPERS while studying at the New York Film Academy — a Hitchcockian film-noir which was warmly received at international festivals.
He has written several US and UK feature specs and has been commissioned for writing assignments and novel adaptations including Ella by Uri Gellar, Driven by Andrea Badenoch and Filth by Irvine Welsh.
His second short, dark psychological thriller ABSOLUTION played the world festival circuit winning “Best Male Performance” for its lead at the Beverly Hills Film Festival.
Dan sold his teen horror LONG TIME DEAD to Working Title Films which released it through Universal starring Lukas Haas, Marsha Thomason and Alec Newman. His horror spec Do Or Die sold to Michael Kuhn’s Qwerty Films and made the prestigious “Brit List”.
Dan’s recent drama fantasy ALL THAT GLITTERS starring Sophia Myles and Alec Newman garnered over 50 international festival selections and 32 awards. A gritty and ambitious BAFTA and BIFA qualifying short film that deals with the difficult subject of domestic violence which is an issue close to his heart.
He was named one of the “Top 25 Screenwriters to Watch in 2023” by the International Screenwriters’ Association and was selected for Directors UK 2024/25 Inspire Mentoring Programme.
Dan is developing several film and series for the US and UK through his production company Buckle Up Entertainment including his directorial debut feature.
Creative Entrepreneur
Aside from filmmaking, Dan also enjoys various other creative endeavours, including as a singer/songwriter — producing his own indie/pop album Headstrong in 2000.
In 2004 he developed his own screenwriting software Movie Outline and in 2007 launched Version 3 at the Screenwriters Expo in Los Angeles. This innovative app started out purely as a tool for step-outlining and structuring a screenplay but was rebranded as Script Studio in 2017 and is now an all-in-one professional script development program that rivals Final Draft and is popular among pro Hollywood Screenwriters including Kevin Williamson (Scream, Dawson's Creek) — winning Xojo's App Design Awards in 2019.
In 2008 Dan launched Hollywood Script Express — a unique online service that allowed screenwriters to upload, print, bind and ship their screenplay from Los Angeles anywhere in the world at the click of a button. Though this service is no longer available due to the nature of the digital age of script submissions, HSX still thrives as a script coverage company offering professional screenplay analysis, proofreading, polish services and digital copyright protection for screenwriters.
In his spare time, Dan is also an avid journalist, writing many articles on the filmmaking business and craft of screenwriting for his Movie Outline website and Script Magazine.
He is also the author of screenwriting book Hollywood Deconstructed — a companion to his software that breaks down and analyses popular Hollywood movies scene by scene.
