Screen Daily Announces Dan’s Directorial Debut Feature
Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk, The Goldfinch, 1899) and Eleanor Tomlinson (Poldark, Jack the Giant Slayer, The War of the Worlds) are attached to star in Dan’s ambitious directorial debut feature Antecedent.
Dan, who penned supernatural horror Long Time Dead for Working Title Films/Universal and ‘Brit-Listed’ horror Do or Die for Michael Kuhn’s Qwerty Films, is producing through his production company Buckle Up Entertainment with producing partners are Llewelynn Greeff and Daniel Hockley of Dark Matter Studios.
Antecedent is a mind-bending psychological horror/thriller/sci-fi with nods to the work of Nolan and Hitchcock. The feature film follows a man haunted by terrifying echoes of another reality which threatens his family and everything they hold dear.
Dan’s recent multi-award-winning Black Mirror-esque short All That Glitters starring Sophia Myles and Alec Newman is now streaming on Disney+.
Buckle Up and Dark Matter presented the project in Cannes this month and are aiming for a Q3 shoot.
“I’ve been a fan of Aneurin and Eleanor’s work for many years and am thrilled to have them on board”, said Dan. “They’re perfect for the complex and demanding lead roles of married couple Callum and Sarah and I’m looking forward to collaborating with them and exploring their on-screen relationship.”
“I love character-driven genre movies that mess with your head and make you think.” Added Dan. “Cerebral and visceral rollercoaster rides but with a heart. Looper, Jacob’s Ladder and Donnie Darko to name but a few favourites that I am inspired by and intend to reflect in Antecedent. The movie will keep audiences guessing and on the edge of their seats at every mind-bending twist and nail-biting turn.”
