A Screenwriter’s Guide to Raindance 2019 | Script Magazine
One of the biggest mistakes I made as a screenwriter when I first started out was not networking enough. I would hunker down at home in my writing den (my bedroom) and churn out lots of material, read lots of scripts and learn my craft. I also started directing shorts but this was not all of the time because of the cost and so I rarely interacted with other filmmakers or writers or professionals in the industry.
I would only go to a film festival if my short film was screening in it and this was a HUGE mistake. Attending film festivals is a must for all screenwriters, whether you have a film entered or not. Here’s an article I wrote about this for Script Magazine which shares some tips on networking and some lessons learned from this year’s Raindance Film Festival.
