Domestic Violence Film Wins Top Award At Lanzarote Film Festival
Dan was delighted to be invited to the Festival Internacional de Cine de Lanzarote this week where he had the pleasure of screening his latest short film All That Glitters and taking a Q&A with the audience.
The ambitious self-funded drama fantasy stars Sophia Myles and Alec Newman and tells the story of a desperate teenager who snatches a rich woman’s handbag, but in a bizarre twist of fate discovers that her life is not as rosy as it seems and that they have more in common than he realizes.

“The film tackles the issue of domestic violence which is something close to my heart and something that became even more prevalent during the pandemic lockdowns across the world,” Dan said. “Though the subject matter is dark, I wanted to inject an element of fantasy into the narrative to engage the viewer and some light moments and ultimately give the audience hope by the end of the film rather than leaving on a bleak note.”
The 24 min ambitious short film was screened again on the closing night at the Victor Fernández Gopar Theater “El Salinero” and was warmly received by the international audience, picking up up Best International Fiction Short Award which Dan was called up to receive.

All That Glitters is the first production for Dan’s new Essex-based production company Buckle Up Entertainment which aims to develop a slate of commercial elevated genre film and television series for the global market.
