Menhaj Huda To Direct Dan’s LA Crime Thriller “Smoke Out”
Dan is delighted to announce that director/producer Menhaj Huda’s production company Foton Films has today optioned his original LA crime thriller screenplay Smoke Out with Menhaj attached to helm the project as his first US feature film.
Menhaj is an award winning British Film and TV director now based in Los Angeles and best known for the urban hit feature Kidulthood which sold over 1 million copies domestically and won Menhaj the Douglas Hickox Award for “Best Debut Director”.
Having relocated to Los Angeles in 2017 he has been directing high end episodic TV such as The Flash, Charmed and Batwoman and recently directed Paramount Plus crime thriller HEIST 88, starring Two Time Emmy Winner and Exec Producer Courtney B. Vance and his wife, Angela Bassett.
Dan previously worked with Menhaj for a couple of years on the adaption of Irvine Welsh’s novel Filth for producers Angus Lamont (Crab Apple Films) and Miranda Robinson (Foursouls Productions).
Dan said “I am thrilled to be working with Menhaj again and look forward to developing the project with him. It was unfortunate that our version of Filth was never produced but we enjoyed working together and were keen to find something else to collaborate on.”
